Certain incompatible food combinations can disturb the normal functioning of gastric fire and can create toxins, the root cause of all ailments. For optimal digestibility and long-term health and well-being it is essential to consider some simple food combining guidelines when preparing your meals:
The first step to change some food combing habits can be to avoid the combination of fresh fruits with dairy (i.e. yoghurt, milk, buttermilk, cream, ice cream, cheese). Fruits are a simple carbohydrate and when ingested in combination with other foods will monopolize our digestive functions. The fruits will be digested first and all the other foods that were eaten with them have to wait and will start to ferment in the meantime (creation of toxins).
When you decide to only apply this particular food combination, you will already improve your overall health. Particularly runny noses, sinus congestions or any other form of mucus congestion will improve or even disappear. Fresh fruits should be considered as a snack food and should therefore be consumed in between meals, especially in the afternoon (2-3 hours after lunch).
If people have digestive problems or weight issues it could also be beneficial to take either one protein OR one starch (i.e. grains and their sprouts, bread, pasta, potato, sweet potato, beet, parsnip, carrot, pumpkin and winter squash) per meal (do not combine them) and combine them with greens and non-starchy vegetables (i.e. leafy greens, cabbage, broccoli, alfalfa sprouts, celery, asparagus, radish, cucumber, zucchini, garlic, onion, mushroom, green beans, sweet peas, fresh corn, seaweed, micro-algae).
