what can I use safely on my childrens and husbands sandwiches and making cakes/biscuits and slices. I get confused as to what is best, either from doctors or advertising of heart-smart products. Ann Ustrnul
Avocado is the best spread. You can also use a thin layer of raw Miso paste (a great fermented food that aids digestion). Vegetable dips such a Babaganoush or Beetroot dip are great to put in a sandwich. Humus can cause a lot of flatulence and is difficult to digest so it is best to use it in moderation. Enjoy.
Another good healthy spread for sandwiches are Pestos. You can make them with any fresh herb such as basil, cilantro (coriander), parsley or even rocket. Add some olive oil, lemon juice, dry roasted pumpkin or sunflower seeds, a pinch of turmeric and kelp powder, celtic sea salt and blend it well with a hand mixer. Enjoy!
